Carolyn Shelak MD PhD



Carolyn Feltes Shelak completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Biology at The College of William & Mary (Go Tribe!) in Williamsburg, VA where she also served as a coxswain for the Rowing Team. She completed an MD/PhD degree at Georgetown University Medical School in Washington DC in 2003 and subsequently trained in General Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Shelak completed her 3 year fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Johns Hopkins University in 2009 and then moved to Oregon with her husband Michael. She is Board Certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care.

Dr. Shelak is currently the medical director for the PICU at Randall Children’s Hospital. Her interests include creation and refinement of systemic processes for quality improvement. She is also currently the Chair of the Medical Staff for RCH.

When not working, Dr. Shelak enjoys traveling, horseback riding, ceramic arts, and spending time with her husband and two daughters, ages 8 and 6.
