Preetha Krishnan MD

My journey as a physician started when I was an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley. During that time, I began volunteering as a camp counselor for the Okizu Foundation (whose mission is to support families affected by childhood cancer). I subsequently earned my medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. I returned to California to complete pediatric residency at UCSF-Fresno, followed by my pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of California San Francisco – Children’s Hospital and Research Center of Oakland joint program. During this time, I continued to volunteer at Okizu’s yearly camps for children with cancer, and was also fortunate to spent two months with Global Healing in Roatan Honduras as a volunteer pediatrician. Once I finished my training, I moved to beautiful Portland, Oregon, which I now call home.

My clinical interests include both pediatric traumatic brain injury and early mobility in patients. I serve as the Clinical Director of Pediatric Neurocritical Care and as the Trauma Liaison for our PICU. In addition to my clinical activities, I participate in various research projects, having published journal articles and co-authored a book chapter. Outside of our PICU, I am on the advisory board for See You At The Summit, whose goal is to empower teenagers affected by cancer.

Beyond medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family and hanging out in our awe-inspiring Cascades. You may come upon me whilst hiking along one of our Gorge Trails, on a mountainous outcropping watching a beautiful sunset, or simply drinking a glass of Oregonian wine at a local shop.
